Expected Salary: $97,115 to $140,227

In this role, you will:

 

  • Be responsible for the occupational Health & Safety of all direct reports
  • Manage and lead the Babcock Welding Quality & Non-Destructive Testing Team comprised of welding technologists and welding / non-destructive testing inspectors
  • Coordinate, train, manage and grow quality assurance and quality control capabilities as required, to meet current and future business requirements
  • Coordinate and plan various audit activities
  • Provide periodic Welding Subject Matter Expertise to support contract bids
  • Collaborate with internal and external organizations including: Babcock Engineering & Corporate QA teams, The Department of National Defence (DND), Auditors for Independent Verification and Validation activities conducted by National Defence Quality Assurance Region (NDQAR) and Naval Engineering Test Establishment (NETE), subcontracted weld engineers or weld companies in support of welding and NDT quality, process controls, performance / procedure qualifications, as well as Welding Engineers associated with Babcock contracts as appropriate and required
  • Advise the Director, Corporate Support on welding standards, welding metrics and their interpretation.

 

The ideal candidate brings:

  • Graduated from a recognized institution with post-secondary education or accreditation as an Engineer, Welding Technologist (or equivalent) or significant experience and exposure to welding and NDT activities in the marine sector.
  • Submarine systems knowledge and experience, including operations and maintenance (5+ years) desirable.
  • Experience (8+ years) with welding, weld inspection, structural engineering, or naval architecture with a sound knowledge (or qualifications) of NDT.
  • Proven leadership and management skills and experience (5+ years) managing technical teams is highly desirable.
  • Qualification as a welding inspector (CSA W178.2, CWI etc.) and QC / QA experience in such a function within shipbuilding / repair, pressure vessel / piping or similar heavy industrial environment are considered strong assets.
  • Experience, Trade qualifications and performance qualifications in welding to recognized welding codes & standards.
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
