Expected Salary: $86,879 to $115,838
To determine final salary, Babcock considers a variety of factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience and internal equity. The final base salary offer is at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.

Description
In this role, you will:
• Provide Principal Technologist-level leadership, governance, and technical direction across the Combat Systems sustainment portfolio.
• Work with Combat Systems Engineering Establish and grow Combat Systems product ownership capability, including lifecycle support, integration, technical baseline management, and modernization activities.
• Coordinate and oversee technologist activities supporting External Communications System (ECS) Rack Build, Field Service, Short Support Facility (SSF), Communications Modernization, and other Combat Systems sustainment programs.
• Collaborate with engineering, program, and customer teams to deliver technical solutions that meet quality, schedule, and business objectives.
• Identify and manage technical risks while ensuring the integrity and consistency of Combat Systems products and technical data.
• Mentor and develop technologists, strengthening organizational capability, succession planning, and technical delivery.
• Drive continuous improvement of Combat Systems processes, standards, tools, and methods to support sustainable growth and delivery.
• Support physical product activities through the development and maintenance of Combat Systems baselines, including ECS Rack and SSF products.
• Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, effectively communicating technical concepts, risks, and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Combat Systems technical standards, processes, methods, and tools.
The ideal candidate brings:
• A post-secondary diploma in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, Communications, or Systems Engineering Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Registration as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) in British Columbia, or eligibility to complete such registration within 12 months of commencing employment.
• Extensive experience (12+ years) supporting complex technical systems in a high-integrity defence, marine, industrial, or similarly regulated environment.
• Experience supporting (5+ years) the integration, sustainment, or modernization of communications systems, combat systems, platform systems, or other complex integrated technical products.
• Demonstrated leadership experience (5+ years) leading teams, coordinating multidisciplinary work, mentoring technical staff, and delivering complex technical solutions that meet customer requirements, quality standards, and schedule commitments.
• Extensive experience across the systems lifecycle, including requirements management, design support, integration, verification, validation, sustainment, and modernization activities.
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership and governance, effectively communicate and manage risks, engage stakeholders, influence decisions, and ensure the quality, integrity, and delivery of technical outputs.
• Experience with 19-inch rack equipment builds would be considered an asset.
• Familiarity with, or certification to, IPC J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards would be considered an asset.
• You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
