Expected Salary: $68,758 to $99,318

In this role, you will:

  • Provide structural analysis of existing structures.
  • Write structural repair specifications utilising best practise ship repair methodology.
  • Provide technical input to configuration change package development, implementation and as-fitted drawings;
  • Providing engineering support to waterfront weight engineering effort.
  • Support and monitor submarine weight control in Babcock Canada;
  • Assist with waterfront stability evolutions, including but not limited to: dockings, stability experiments (surfaced and submerged inclines), lightship weight assessments, and alongside vessel loadings;
  • Manage the weight documentation for the Victoria Class Submarines;
  • Assess vessel weight growth margins;
  • Provide engineering support to commissioning;
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders including the Waterfront Engineering, Project Management, Drawing Office, On Site Management Team, Production, and Commissioning;
  • Interface with external stakeholders including customers, regulatory bodies, on site customer representatives and customer design and system authorities; and
  • Other duties as required.

 

The ideal candidate brings:

  • A Naval Architecture Degree from an accredited Canadian university/educational institute or recognized foreign equivalent;
  • Engineering experience of 2+ years (desirable);
  • Knowledge of naval architecture and structures (highly desirable);
  • Knowledge of naval vessel maintenance and refits (highly desirable);
  • Knowledge of vessel weight engineering and production of weight reports;
  • Knowledge of stability assessments and incline experiments;
  • Excellent written, verbal, electronic reporting and data communication skills;
  • Working knowledge of ITAR and security protocols; and
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
