In this role, you will:

 

  • Assist in the review and development of new health and safety procedures and programs, including delivery of associated training where required.
  • Provide guidance to Babcock’s health and safety committees, and other Babcock Canada personnel.
  • Foster a strong health and safety culture are all levels of Babcock Canada.
  • Assist in conducting accident investigations and provide reporting of health, safety and environment incidents to HSE Manager.
  • Write safety proposals, interpret regulations, draft inspection standards and safety assessment tools; in an effort to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure hazard assessments are completed as per standard procedure.
  • Monitor the effective implementation of appropriate Safety and Environment Management System procedures.
  • Periodically complete internal audits to support ISO Management Systems (14001 & 45001) and HS&E compliance requirements.
  • Assist with safety due diligence audits on Sub-contractors.
  • Liaise between internal clients on safety related issues.
  • Provide safety-related input into new projects including changes.
  • Review and provide input on Health and Safety documentation for new tenders.
  • Provide Safety support and advice, including preparation of plans and procedures for initial contract start up activities.
  • Assist with the development of and recommend improvements to all OHS Management Systems.
  • Provide recommendations with respect to emergency response plans to facilitate continuous improvement ensuring compliance to all federal and provincial regulations.
  • Assist in configuration and customization of Enterprise Safety Management Software.
  • Interpret data and provide periodic performance reports to Senior Management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

As our ideal candidate,

 

  • You have a minimum 5 years’ experience in the Health, Safety and Environmental field.
  • You hold a post-secondary education in Health, Safety and Environment.
  • You have demonstrated knowledge of federal, provincial and local health and safety, and environmental regulations.
  • You have direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and/or compliance officers.
  • CRSP designation would be considered an asset.
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
