The role

As a Commercial Assistant, you’ll join a collaborative commercial team supporting key defence major construction programmes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in commercial administration, contract support, governance, and business operations within a world-leading defence organisation.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll help ensure contracts, bids, governance activities, and commercial records are managed accurately and effectively. Your work will support the delivery of critical programmes that contribute to national security while giving you exposure to experienced commercial professionals, structured development opportunities, and the chance to work towards future professional qualifications.

 

  • Supporting commercial governance activities for bids, contracts, contract amendments, and approvals.
  • Maintaining accurate contract records, correspondence logs, change registers, and commercial documentation.
  • Assisting with the preparation of documentation for governance reviews, meetings, and reporting activities.
  • Facilitating customer and stakeholder meetings, including coordinating actions and recording meeting outcomes.
  • Collaborating with commercial, project, finance, procurement, and supply chain teams to support successful contract delivery.
  • Learning to interpret subcontractor costs and billing. 

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 – 3 days in the office/onsite.

 

Essential experience of the Commercial Assistant

  • Working effectively within a team environment and following established processes.
  • Demonstrating strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Managing tasks with excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Prioritising workload effectively and maintaining accuracy across administrative activities.
  • Knowing when to seek guidance while working under moderate supervision.

 

Qualifications for the Commercial Assistant

  • A willingness to study towards relevant commercial or professional qualifications in the future.

 

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
