The role
As a Sustainability Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Sustainability Manager will provide strategy and guidance about how to better integrate sustainability related activities into Cavendish nuclear governance but also into our project environments and give it the focus it deserves.
Day to day, you’ll incorporate existing policies and strategies in place for E, S and G. in line with the broader Nuclear ESG strategy and group.
• ESG implementation - work closely with the lines of business and functional teams to understand their strategic objectives and operational plans to co-create ESG implementation plans aligned to the strategy and supported by robust business cases, increase awareness, engagement and understanding of ESG through the delivery of the strategic ESG programme.
• Structuring of ESG resource – working with Env. and social leads to setting of environmental KPIs and targets. Preparing resource plans
• ESG data management and reporting – Be the single point of contact into the Cavendish board to give clear transparency on progress and to keep the ESG agenda current. Provide ESG data to Babcock group for external reporting as these demands increase. Assess and report the performance and results of ESG activities for the sector. Work with the head of environment, social impact and marketing manager and ESG programme manager to create effective reporting process to the board against agreed ESG actions and targets; work with lines of business
• Corporate ESG representative – play an active role in the corporate ESG Committee, representing Cavendish Nuclear and reporting on key achievements and progress. Lead on ESG internal and external engagement activities, representing Cavendish Nuclear and Babcock at a range of forums.
Essential experience of the Sustainability Manager,
• Significant professional experience of environment and energy management and carbon management in projects (member of IEMA, energy institute or CEnv MEng(or equivalent professional body)
• Professional knowledge and experience of engineering services and projects
• Has delivered sustainability/ ESG strategies
• Experience managing and analysing complex data sets (Social and environmental data)
• Has understanding and experience in PAS2080 / ISO 260001 (LCA) in respect to products and services (over building services) is desirable
This is a hybrid working role with two-three days in a hub and some travel involved for meetings.
Qualifications for the Sustainability Manager,
• Degree in engineering or environmental / energy management
• Low carbon energy assessor or BREEAM / SKA / LEED assessor
The successful candidate must be able to achieve BPSS security clearance level for this role.
