The role
As a Senior Estimator, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will have integral role as part of the Business Winning team.
Day-to-day, you’ll will be responsible for planning, creating and managing tenders from initiation through completion in order to determine required resources and use formal processes and tools to create resources, budgets, risks and changes.
- Generating the cost and other resources needed to complete a tender within a defined scope, by considering all activities and elements required for a tender and calculating a total amount to determine a tender’s price
- Compile estimates, in line with best practice, by assessing the materials, labour and equipment that will be required based on a variety of historical and current information sources.
- Working alongside the planning, finance, risk and procurement teams, to name a few, to successfully compile the required commercial return. These may be in the form of rates for a framework, a full activity schedule for an EPC contract, etc.
- Provision of input to in series of governance reviews to enable successful tender completion and sign off
This role is full time, thirty-seven hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with three days in the office and two days working from home, based at our Birchwood, Warrington site.
Essential experience of the Senior Estimator
- Strong experience with estimating, cost analysis, or a related field
- Deep understanding of the industry, e.g. engineering, construction, manufacturing, or defence – very relevant
- Proficiency with estimating software, strong Excel / data analysis skills, and familiarity with cost databases
- Evidence of working on complex, large-scale projects, frameworks, etc.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and possibly managing or mentoring junior staff
- Proven ability to analyse drawings / specs and develop accurate cost projections
Qualifications for the Senior Estimator
- APM qualification would be advantageous
