The role

 

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role sits within our Cavendish Nuclear business, from decommissioning redundant nuclear facilities, through supporting the Continuous at Sea Deterrent, to supporting the operation and build of nuclear power plants, our role in Cavendish Nuclear is to clean up the nuclear legacy and create a world where nuclear plays a key contribution in protecting our nation, ensuring security of energy supply and meeting our net zero commitments.

 

This role will be part of a multi-billion-pound framework to support a major infrastructure & machinery build defence project in Reading. 
 
Day to day, you’ll lead the planning and management of multi discipline projects involving the coordination and integration of multi discipline tasks. This role leads the engineering team to deliver technical solutions to budget, targets, and estimating the engineering scope for Projects from concept design to full Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC).

  • Effective management of multi discipline teams to ensure timely & efficient delivery of engineering work to meet customer agreed scope.
  • Ensure effective management of the customer, including liaison and relationship development with existing and new customers, to aid the development of business, resolution of technical and delivery issues, and such that the customer is fully briefed and informed of progress.
  • Technical management of the engineering output to ensure delivery of technical solutions in line with agreed technical scope.
  • Manage resource demands and development of capability skills to match needs of future workload and coach and mentor members of the team.
  • Ensure project and technical audits and review are planned & executed in order to impart learning and experience as appropriate and in line with agreed standards.

 
Essential experience of the Senior Engineering Manager:

 

 

  • Demonstrable management experience, including experience in managing multi discipline teams to deliver analysis activities on a range of project types
  • Experience of leading design reviews. 
  • Previously worked within a highly regulated industry e.g Nuclear, Defence, Chemicals, Pharma, Oil & Gas, Aerospace etc. 

 
The role is on a full time, permanent basis (37 hours per week) and includes hybrid / flexible working. You will be required to visit client sites in Coventry and Reading on an ad-hoc basis. 
 
Qualifications for the Senior Engineering Manager:

 

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline with significant demonstrable experience

  
Security Clearance
 
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) for this role, however can start under Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance. Applicants must hold sole British citizenship.
