The role

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll lead the civil elements of multidisciplinary CS&A design, playing a pivotal role in the expansion of new buildings that enable the UK’s transition to cleaner, reliable nuclear energy. It’s a role with real impact, supporting national energy security while accelerating your professional growth through complex, large‑scale design delivery and technical leadership.

Day‑to‑day you’ll be required to:

  • Deliver civil design packages (drainage, enabling works and associated infrastructure) that integrate seamlessly within CS&A schemes.
  • Apply relevant civil engineering codes and design software to produce robust, compliant solutions.
  • Lead workstreams autonomously—planning, coordinating and driving progress across multi‑disciplinary stakeholders.
  • Check and review colleagues’ designs, ensuring quality, safety and constructability standards are met.
  • Contribute to the TMF project’s mission by designing assets that support the safe processing of uranium tails for cleaner, reliable nuclear energy.

This is a permanent, full‑time role working 37 hours per week based in Warrington, Cheshire. Hybrid working patterns are available, with a minimum of three days in the office per week.

Essential experience of the Senior Civil Engineer:

  • Experience delivering civil engineering design for large‑scale projects, ideally within nuclear or industrial facilities.
  • Proven capability in drainage design and civil enabling works (codes, standards and software).
  • Track record of autonomous leadership of design packages and technical checking of others’ work.
  • Strong stakeholder collaboration within a multi‑disciplinary environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement in regulated settings.

Qualifications for the Senior Civil Engineer:

  • Degree‑qualified (BEng or MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
