The Role
As a Head of Finance, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary; being responsible for accounting operations and governance for the Nuclear Services business, including projects and related overhead areas, ensuring all accounting, finance and stakeholder policies, requirements and deadlines are fully met.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be ensuring appropriate financial control and governance, as well as support the delivery of the external audit; whilst also, leading the Nuclear Services finance team, focussing on their development and training:

 

  • Take on projects at the request of the Cavendish Finance Director including supporting the ongoing development of the Cavendish and Nuclear sector finance function.
  • Support Nuclear Services leadership team in continuously striving to enhance sustainable financial performance (Nuclear Services, Cavendish and Nuclear sector), meet budgets and drive continuous improvement in managing spend.
  • Ensure that cost and income collection processes are adhered to in line with company contract management and financial procedures.
  • Ensure that financial forecasts, are appropriately prepared and reviewed with appropriate detail to drive action.
  • Develop action focussed periodic reporting processes to monitor and challenge the operational businesses to maximise financial performance.

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires regular travel to Warrington, Leicester or Bristol, on a weekly / monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.

Essential Experience of the Head of Finance: 

  • Excellent people management and communication skills at all levels. Builds an awareness of career goals within the team and assists with their professional development.
  • Project accounting experience
  • Experience in assessing and utilising team members key attributes to create an effective team. Empowers others, inviting input from each person.
  • Experience of working with senior management.
  • Ability to deliver a robust business planning and reporting process.
  • High degree of commercial acumen.

 

Qualifications for the Head of Finance:

  • You must hold a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent / similar.

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
