The role
As a Commercial Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The commercial team plays a critical role in the success of our business. By applying your technical knowledge and expertise to achieve commercial success, you will help ensure that the business can compete effectively and achieve long-term goals. 


Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for the commercial management of contracts within Cavendish Nuclear’s growing civil nuclear business. You'll have a focus on delivery against short-term priorities with a medium-term outlook, anticipating challenges and adapting plans and prioritises accordingly. This is an exciting time to join us, and to work within the joint venture with a well-known customer, whilst interfacing with various departments within our organisation. 

 

  • Develop and fulfil contract requirements and packages of work 
  • Evaluate contract compliance and advise on contractual rights and obligations
  • Request or approve amendments to contract terms and extensions
  • Prepare bids or requests for proposals and negotiate contract teams
  • Liaison with our customer to answer any queries and attend meetings to ensure requirements are met
  • Working with the team to scope out the next phase of the project, whilst monitoring and reviewing on and ongoing basis

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 – 3 days in the office/onsite and 1 - 2 days working from home.

 

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. We are happy to consider flexible, blended working, including part-time, condensed hours, and job sharing. Please ask about alternative patterns of work at interview. 

 

Essential experience of the Commercial Manager

  • In-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in commercial areas
  • Adaptability to address resource and operational challenges 
  • Leadership capabilities and business/industry knowledge 
  • Experience with NEC3 or 4, or JCT (or other contract methodologies) 
  • Demonstratable evidence of developing effective customer relationships and confident at negotiating independently within agreed delegations

 

Qualifications for the Commercial Manager

  • You might be degree qualified (or equivalent) but this is not essential we value difference and don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience the right personal attributes and willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.
  • Relevant professional qualifications achieved, or willing to work towards, may include Membership of World Commerce and Contracting (WCC), Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or Post Graduate Certificate in Commercial Management (PGCCM).
