This is a brilliant opportunity to work as part of the MEH Alliance on the prestigious Hinkley Point C Nuclear project. The alliance work across the project to integrate and coordinate the delivery of all main Mechanical, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (MEH), cabling and associated support services. This innovative approach will help different contractors work as a single entity to deliver the complex installation of cabling and pipework in the power station’s vast network of rooms.
The role
As a Fire Safety Advisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Being part of the MEH Alliance working on Hinkley Point C is a chance to be involved in a major project with national significance. This is a unique opportunity to influence safety standards on a nationally significant project, while developing your career in a dynamic and high-risk environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll be the go-to expert for fire safety across MEHA operational areas at Hinkley Point. You’ll provide guidance, conduct audits, and collaborate with teams to embed a proactive fire safety culture.
- Providing expert fire safety advice to MEHA teams, contractors, and stakeholders
- Conducting fire safety audits and inspections, and ensuring corrective actions are taken
- Supporting fire risk assessments and maintaining accurate records
- Collaborating with the on-site Fire and Rescue Team to enhance emergency preparedness
- Promoting a positive fire safety culture and identifying opportunities for improvement
This role is full time 37, hours per week, and is based on site at Hinkley Point C.
Essential experience of the Fire Safety Advisor
- Experience working on-site in a fire safety role within a dynamic or construction environment
- Proven ability to produce Fire Risk Assessments in complex operational settings
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to clearly explain emergency procedures and fire safety expectations to diverse audiences
Qualifications for the Fire Safety Advisor
- NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate, or
- Certificate in Fire Safety Level 4 (Fire Auditors), or
- Diploma in Fire Safety Level 4 (Fire Inspector), or
- CIOB Certificate in Fire Safety in Construction
Security Clearance
