Job Purpose

Here at Cavendish Nuclear we are looking for a self-motivated and experienced Project Manager to lead nuclear design projects in Cumbria and Warrington, with a focus on stakeholder development and scoping new packages.


You will be tasked to work on a new key project for our customer Sellafield, focusing on risk reduction of glovebox operations via robotic systems. If you are someone who is enthused by technological developments then this is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team.


Key Responsibilities
Managing projects to time, cost and quality, you will be the first point of contact for the client for any queries or issues.

You will have accountability for monthly progress dashboards and financial reports and will manage recruitment of both internal, contract and supply chain engineering resource. You will also be responsible for team management and development of Project Engineers and Engineering Teams across multiple locations.

 

Other responsibilities include:
• Capturing customer requirements and developing scopes of work
• Developing estimates for new packages of work
• Developing PM documentation such as stakeholder management plans, risk registers
• Adhering to NEC3 Engineering Contract obligations
• Adhering to H&S Legalisation and acting as a leader for H&S initiatives
• Leading/ chairing meetings (start up, milestone meetings, LFE)

 

What do I need to do the role?
You must have worked in a multi-company team and should have Project Management experience within the early stage design phase of projects. You will need to have a solid technical understanding and ideally have come from an Engineering background. You will be keen to bring new ideas and fresh thinking to the table. Alongside these skills you will also have:
• Demonstrable experience of managing projects in various lifecycle phases
• Experience of client facing role and stakeholder management
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Understanding of NEC3 and different contract types (reimbursable, target, fixed)

Additional desirable skills, qualifications and experience include:
• Previous experience in robotics would be highly advantageous.
• Nuclear experience is desirable however not essential and other industries will be considered, particularly automotive or pharma.
• Ideally, you will be APM qualified but this is not essential
• A degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Science discipline is also desirable however not essential for the right candidate.

 

What else do I need to know?
Base Location either Warrington or Westlake’s Science Park Cumbria, with an element of working from home.
