The role
As a Lead Mechanical Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Leading Mechanical technician will work in our mechanical assembly and test workshops and will lead a variety of projects, mentoring junior technicians and apprentices as required. You’ll also take on additional responsibilities such as setting to work and being a lift supervisor.
Day-to-day, you’ll undertake complex technical or operating activities within this discipline and will work under a limited degree of supervision from a Front Line Manager to complete non‐routine tasks and activities. You may also act as an informal resource for junior colleagues.
This position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time, 37-hours per week, working across the following shift pattern: Monday and Wednesday 07:30 to 16:00, Tuesday and Thursday 07:30 to 16:15 and Friday 07:30 to 12:00.
Essential experience of the Lead Mechanical Technician
- Experienced of working on complex mechanical assemblies to tight tolerances.
- Reading and understanding of engineering drawings
- Experience of setting to work and the ability to supervise.
- Used to working in accordance with written procedures with a questioning attitude when uncertain.
Qualifications for the Lead Mechanical Technician.
- Accredited Apprenticeship, NVQ or equivalent, which demonstrates the practical and theoretical standards required.
