The role

As a Senior Mechanical Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of a team who are responsible for supporting reactor inspections, including maintaining, using and installing specialist machinery.  

Day-to-day, you’ll provide support to the delivery teams including setting to work, and ensuring health and safety is paramount.  

• Perform as a Nominated Supervisor under E&M Safety Rules, set teams to work under Safety Documents/APROC, and enforce safety and quality standards.
• Conduct face-to-face meetings to confirm team fitness for duty, set relevant working parties to work, and carry out briefs.
• Act as the site point of contact for the Graphite team, arrange site access and accommodation, and maintain clear communication.
• Ensure qualified personnel alignment, support Graphite equipment maintenance and calibration, and arrange equipment transport and laydown areas.
• Interact with regulators during inspections, support equipment deployment during outages, and drive improvements in maintenance facilities and procedures.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and works across a 4-day work week (Monday – Thursday).

Essential experience of the Senior Mechanical Technician 

• Previously worked within a Mechanical Technician role, ideally with supervisory experience. 
• Nuclear experience is not a requirement however the successful candidate will need to have worked within a highly regulated environment. 

Qualifications for the Senior Mechanical Technician 

• Relevant mechanical qualifications (or considerable experience).

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
