The role
As a Senior Project Planner, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be responsible for independently managing complex project schedules that support the safe, timely and efficient delivery of high-value programmes.
Day-to-day, you’ll apply expert knowledge of planning principles and tools like Primavera P6 to maintain integrated schedules, while aligning with NEC4 contract methodologies and delivering value across the full project lifecycle.
- Develop and maintain project structures and integrated schedules (Levels 1–3)
- Provide regular schedule updates, metrics (e.g. critical path/total float), and variance analysis
- Conduct critical path analysis and earned value reporting, communicating corrective actions
- Ensure alignment of schedules with cost and material demand tools
- Lead planning workshops and contribute to risk analysis and “what-if” scenarios
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Project Planner
- Extensive experience in a similar planning role within engineering or infrastructure
- Advanced user of Primavera P6 with a strong understanding of planning best practice
- Demonstrable experience working under NEC4 contract frameworks
- Proven expertise in schedule risk analysis, earned value, and interactive planning workshops
- Full lifecycle planning experience from bid through to close-out
Qualifications for the Senior Project Planner
- A degree in engineering, project or construction management is desirable
