Welding Engineer
About the role

Accountable to the Welding Engineering Manager in providing welding engineering and inspection subject matter expertise to the delivery of the HK4291 BNI Mechanical Erection Contract, safely to time, cost and specified quality requirements.


Development and maintainance of welding quality management systems and proceures meeting project and legistlative requirements.

• Translate drawings and design requirements into weld requirements and develop the method of weld procedure and welder/operator qualification in line with project codes and standards.

• Establish resource, materials and equipment requirements for weld procedure qualification program.

• Generate weld procedure qualifications, specifications, weld maps and weld books for client review and approval.

• Translate relevant codes and standards for the specification, procurement and acceptance testing of project specific welding filler materials.

• Manage production test weld regime in accordance with project codes and standards.

• Create method statements and technical instructions for implementation of processes to ensure built in quality.

• Establish equipment requirements for manual, mechanised and automatic welding applications.

• Oversee welder/operator qualification and prolongation regime meeting project requirements.

• Maintain work files containing the necessary documentation to support and demonstrate compliance with welding engineering codes and quality requirements.

• Supervise and provide guidance to Welding Engineers, Technicians and Welding Supervisors in the execution of their responsibilities.

• Ensure compliance to health, safety (occupational & process) and environmental excellence procedures and controls for activities under area of responsibility to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude.

• Contribute to the team’s incorporation of pertinent lessons learned from previous activities.

• Assist in management and coordination of activities from a welding engineering functional perspective.

• Assist in creation and coordination of overall project plans and schedules, and monitor activities, progress, and milestones.


What do I need for this role?

  • Educated to Higher National Certificate / Diploma as a minimum
  • Strong practical and academic welding, materials, inspection and quality background
  • Solutions oriented dealing with technical queries & deviation requests



What else do I need to know?


Successful candidate must be able to achieve the appropriate security clearance level for this role.
