The role:
As a Trades Workforce Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our technical trade personnel are fully supported, prepared and able to excel as they join and work within the MEH Joint Venture (MEH JV) at Hinkley Point C. This is a role with real impact — shaping the standards, skills and development of the workforce delivering one of the UK’s most important clean energy projects.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
- Lead the full onboarding and induction process for trade personnel joining Cavendish Nuclear.
- Set standards and expectations that align with Cavendish Nuclear and MEH JV requirements.
- Assess skills and competence to ensure only suitable individuals are deployed into the MEH JV.
- Develop, implement and monitor training and career development programmes.
- Coach, mentor and support apprentices, trainees and experienced trade professionals throughout their deployment.
This is a 37‑hour‑per‑week position and can be based from either Bridgwater, Somerset or Bristol. Hybrid working patterns are available with 2-3 days onsite per week. Occasional travel to other Cavendish Nuclear or customer sites will be expected.
Essential experience of the Trades Workforce Manager:
- Experience managing multidisciplinary technical trade workforces.
- Background working within a trade environment or as a qualified tradesperson (e.g., Welder, Pipefitter, Rigger, Plater) at management level.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience delivering training, coaching or workforce development programmes.
- Ability to lead, influence and collaborate across multiple teams.
Qualifications for the Trades Workforce Manager:
- Preferable Relevant Professional Accreditation (Diploma/City and Guilds Level 3 in Relevant Discipline (Ideally Welding). However, provided you can show the required level of experience and/or willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you.
Security Clearance:
