The role
As a Senior Waste & Decommissioning Consultant you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will have the opportunity to interface with various well-known customers, granting you great exposure externally, as well as working collaboratively with key stakeholders to provide expert advice and to develop solutions. 

 

Day to day, you’ll be our specialist with a wide breath of nuclear waste knowledge to support the management and delivery of technical activities and innovative projects relating to Nuclear Waste Characterisation, Management, Decommissioning and Strategy. 

 

  • Provide resolution to a range of technical issues and problems (inclusive of decision-making processes). 
  • Produce technical reports and accompany presentations, provide expert reviews, and adhere to specifications in accordance with stakeholder requirements. 
  • Provide expert advice within your discipline, develop business awareness, build strong working relationships with stakeholders, lead small single-discipline teams either to deliver a project or within larger multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Support the development and delivery of waste consultancy opportunities and capability in line with Cavendish Nuclear & Nuclear Services business stream strategy and growth plans. 
  • Support and guide the development of junior staff to grow the capability. 

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 - 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 - 3 days working from home.

 

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential experience of the Senior Waste & Decommissioning Consultant

  • Strong experience of working within the nuclear industry, with good, applied knowledge and hands-on expertise. 
  • Waste characterisation planning (e.g. DQO) and Waste Inventory
  • Waste packaging and transportation
  • Development and implementation of integrated waste management strategies
  • Option identification and assessments
  • Environmental planning, legislation, permitting and assessment studies (e.g. BPM, BAT)

 

Qualifications for the Senior Waste & Decommissioning Consultant 

  • Engineering or Science Degree, or HNC (desirable)
