About the Role
Babcock is growing, and we’re looking for a Hydraulic Technician to join our team at Woodville North. This role supports a major Defence program, delivering engineering, maintenance and technical services for the Collins Class Submarine fleet. It’s a chance to work with highly specialised equipment, contribute to nationally significant capability and build your career within a skilled, supportive team.
In this full‑time role, you’ll be hands‑on with the refurbishment of hydraulic components — stripping, surveying, testing and troubleshooting equipment in line with established procedures, while ensuring all documentation is completed accurately. You’ll work closely with the Lead Technician and Workshop Manager to meet program milestones, maintain workshop equipment, support clean‑room operations and contribute to continuous improvement across processes and systems.
You’ll also play a part in training others, identifying better ways of working, supporting special projects and ensuring a safe, high‑performance environment. Some travel may be required as part of broader program needs.

You will bring
- Australian Citizen with a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain).
- Trade Certificate (Level 3) in a relevant engineering or trade discipline.
- Mechanical Trade background.
- Extensive experience in the refurbishment of hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- An understanding of quality processes and their application to high integrity defence assets.
