Senior Manager, Transition Solution (12 Month Contract)

This role will work with the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) capture team to develop the aviation solution in a joint venture with Leonardo Canada, a world leader in the training sector who can cover the entire pilot training syllabus with a unique range, allowing the training syllabus to be tailored to air force requirements. This partnership between two companies leverages strong footprints in military pilot training, ensuring that the FAcT program will benefit from the expertise and innovation made by two global players, each of which have over 70 years of aircrew training experience delivered around the world.

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Create and lead the execution of transition plans that demonstrate the process from Contract Award to Steady State training for the overall program
  • Manage, and maintain plans and schedules to enable the effective and efficient transition of services from incumbent suppliers to Babcock Canada
  • Create clear plans demonstrating lines of responsibility between Contractor, incumbent and Canada including program governance
  • Create effective measures and plan across each of the training streams and progression into steady state through the Initial Cadre Training, Field Trial and Ready for Training phases
  • Support the cost estimation for resources required to drive planning activities
  • Analyse required resources needed to execute planned activities
  • Combine and manipulate multiple schedules, analyse conflicts and report information appropriately to allow the Program Management Team and senior management to assess transition program integrity
  • Analyse the transition schedule’s critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend alternative solutions
  • Identify and support the management of all transition-related program risks

 

The ideal candidate:

 

  • Minimum of ten to twelve (10-12) years of related work experience, ideally in the defence industry as a program or scheduling lead, managing a technical program to performance, cost and time
  • Demonstrated experience with transition plan creation during bidding of large government programs
  • You will preferably hold a Project Management Professional Designation
  • When required, attend meetings in the Ottawa office as part of the FAcT capture team
  • Proficient in the use of project scheduling software such as Primavera P6 and MS Project
  • Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • The ability to comprehend business needs, synthesize technical and specialized knowledge and translate them into a cohesive strategy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and planning skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively within a team setting and also to provide leadership when required to do so
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
