The role

As Head of Communications for Transformation and Delivery, you will lead the development and delivery of a strategic communications approach that underpins enterprise‑wide transformation. Acting as a trusted senior adviser to the Chief Delivery Officer, you will shape the narrative behind cultural, digital, operational and organisational change across Babcock.

 

This is a high‑impact leadership role where your work will enable clarity, engagement and confidence during periods of significant change. You will influence senior leaders, empower employees and ensure transformation outcomes are understood, embraced and sustained. Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:

 

  • Leading the development and delivery of transformation and change communications strategies
  • Advising senior executives on narrative, engagement and communications during complex change
  • Shaping clear, compelling storytelling that supports cultural and behavioural change
  • Engaging employees, leaders, customers and stakeholders through targeted communications
  • Measuring impact and continually improving communication effectiveness

 

This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2/3 days onsite and 2/3 days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the Head of Communications (CDO and Transformation)

  • Significant experience in senior internal, change or transformation communications roles
  • Proven ability to shape strategic narrative for complex, multi‑year transformation programmes
  • Strong understanding of organisational change, culture, engagement and behaviour change
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills
  • Experience advising senior leaders in fast‑paced or sensitive environments

 

Qualifications for the Head of Communications (CDO and Transformation)

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in communications, public relations, journalism or a related field
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIPR or PRCA (desirable)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) and Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
