The role
As a Welding Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary where you will have an opportunity to work on a range of materials in a unique and exciting application, whilst being supported in gaining Professional Registration to UK Engineering Council.
 
Day to day, you’ll carry out welding engineering tasks to support production activities and external customers which include: 

  • Working in conjunction with Babcock’s Weld Quality Management System (ISO3834-2) to ensure quality practises are abided by.
  • The functional management of new welding procedures in the department’s workshops. This involves working closely with a skilled Welder and the practical management of welding equipment.
  • The authoring of technical engineering reports/proposals for bespoke welding techniques utilising materials knowledge. 
  • Review of sub-contractor’s quality system to ensure the department maintains a high quality of welding
  • throughout the site.

 

This role is full-time, 36 hours per week. We offer flexible, hybrid working options; you'll be required to work onsite two days per week, with flexible starting and ending times available and a half-day on Friday.  

 

Essential experience of the Welding Engineer

  • An engineering background through either a graduate training scheme, degree or experience as a welding engineer.
  • Have an understanding of welding processes and techniques.
  • Be driven to solve complex problems as a team and engage with stakeholders to find a solution. 
  • Able to show that you prioritise health and safety in the work place and be able to demonstrate behaviours aligned with Babcock’s Principles.

 
Qualifications for the Welding Engineer
Minimum requirement for the role is holding a National Skill Framework Level Five but we are interested in all applicants with a Level Five and above as long as it is in a relevant engineering discipline. E.g. foundation degrees, diplomas, HND, BEng/BSc, MEng/MSc.
 
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role. Be able to attain NNPPI. Open to foreign nationals but you will need to be able to work in UK.
