About the role


To identify and develop collective training solutions to win new business and re-competitions for existing contracts within the Land (Defence) sector. 


To identify, and develop solutions that are innovative, integrate with or transform an existing training solution, incorporate best practice, the latest training techniques and technology to meet the Armed Forces’ requirements for individual/collective training and education.


To provide expertise on user requirements for management and optimisation of the Collective Training enterprise, and technical expertise in the design, development, management and integration of systems management solutions to these requirements to support the transformation of the delivery of training to land forces. 



Main Accountabilities:


  • Provide an outward facing presence with the customer, industry and other stakeholders to promote Babcock credentials as a collective training provider and to maintain insight to requirements and the market, synthesising this as advice and recommendations.
  • Undertake detailed analysis of training requirements and develop and incorporate clearly articulated innovative solutions into tender submissions.
  • Lead on the development of the most cost-effective means of meeting specified systems including training technology requirements as part of the bidding process.
  • Lead the preparation of capture plans to support bidding opportunities.
  • Support negotiations with potential customers and partners.
  • Identify risks and potential costs/losses to the business of pursuing an opportunity with proposals to mitigate them.
  • Maintain close relationships with other Business Units and across Babcock International Group to ensure effective coordination of new training technology prospects and exchange best practice, innovation and understanding.
  • Manage work in line with the Company’s corporate governance policies, processes, procedures, including those related to Health and Safety.


What do I need to do the role?


Knowledge, Qualification and Experience


  • Educated to degree level or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Experience and evidence of working within a major training organisation at a managerial level.
  • An understanding of the process of bidding.
  • Experience of developing and executing business strategy in-line with business requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience of working within large, complex programmes.
  • An extensive and established network within technology in training.
  • Knowledge of the Army’s individual and collective training, including working with military customers and the Ministry of Defence.
