Defence Equipment
The Armourer role is based within our Defence Equipment business area.

Defence equipment stores, maintains, repairs and overhauls military vehicles and equipment so the UK army is able to train and deploy in a moment. As well as supporting vehicles that are already in service, the team carries out vehicle assembly integration and tests new vehicles.

The role
The difference our new Armourer will make

As a Armourer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll inspect, service, repair and overhaul of weapons and armour systems, assemblies and general equipment to meet the production needs of the Army

Day to day, you’ll carry out work to the required standard and specification as detailed on the job card in accordance with the customer requirements, current regulations, local instructions, processes and other approved technical publications, diagnose, inspect and assess weapon systems, vehicles and associated mechanical / electrical / armour equipment in line with skills & competency.

You will also ensure all job transactions are accurately recorded and carried out in accordance with current ERP processes and that work completed and time taken to complete the job is submitted daily to the department / section Supervisor, completion of vehicle and equipment documentation and test certificates / reports to current standards and ensure stores and equipment issued to job are used for their correct purpose and un-used or new faulty material is returned to the section / department Supervisor as soon as it is identified.

Essential experience
•    NVQ Level 3 
•    Ex-service background
•    Experienced gun fitter or armour 
•    Currently holds or has the ability to obtain SC security clearance
