The role
As a Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of our procurement transformation, helping to build a best-in-class sourcing function that drives profitability, reduces risk, and enhances capability across our Land Sector. This is a commercially focused role where your strategic thinking and supplier management skills will directly contribute to national defence and engineering excellence.
- Leading sourcing activities including market engagement, tendering, contract negotiation, and supplier selection.
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders to define third-party requirements and ensure supplier alignment.
- Developing category strategies and supplier relationship plans to drive performance and value.
- Supporting operational teams with bid-to-production transitions to ensure continuity and compliance.
- Using digital procurement tools and data insights to shape sourcing strategies and report progress.
This role is full time and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.
Essential experience of the Strategic Sourcing Specialist
- Proven experience in Procurement, Category Management, Strategic Sourcing or Contract Management.
- Track record of leading end-to-end procurement processes and delivering measurable value.
- Experience across varied spend categories and supplier relationship management.
- Skilled in creating bespoke RFx documentation to support sourcing strategies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Qualifications for the Strategic Sourcing Specialist
- Desirable: Member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) Level 4 or working towards.
