About the role


Here at Babcock International, we’re looking to recruit an Indirect Buyer to join the team on a permanent basis.


The role will be a key part of the Procurement and Supply Chain team and focused on a variety of indirect activities, working with a small team to implement all indirect projects.


In this role you will help generate significant value for the business by developing supply chains that align with the business needs, whilst developing key supplier relationships to increase performance by providing enabling elements that ensure on time delivery as well as reducing the total cost of bought in goods and services.


Further responsibilities include:
•    Prepare and issue Invitations to Tender or requests for quotations.
•    Negotiate Contract Terms and Conditions that motivate the required supplier performance 
•    Manage the procurement work flow as required and buy materials/services in line with customer required by dates.
•    Expedite requirements to ensure delivery to key project dates.


What do I need to do the role?


You will have a recognised degree level qualification and/or relevant engineering/supply chain/lean culture experience. 


You will hold a membership of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPS at level 5.


You will also have an appropriate level of experience in procurement or acquisition of goods and services, as well as experience of leading and managing projects and people.


What else do I need to know?


Working hours are 37.5 per week, with an early finish on Fridays.
