The role

As an Automotive Design Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be at the forefront of creating innovative and functional vehicle designs.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for assisting in the development, design, and implementation of new vehicle design solutions, with a view to meeting current and future customer requirements.

 

  • Vehicle Design: Creating concept designs and detailed blueprints for our vehicles considering factors like aerodynamics, aesthetics, and functionality.  Whilst we typically convert existing base vehicles, whole vehicle understanding is required for the role.
  • Component and System Development: Designing, improving and/or selecting individual components and Systems such as engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and electrical systems to achieve defined requirements.
  • Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, electrical, electronic and software engineers, and designers, to bring a vehicle from concept to production.
  • Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving engineering challenges and issues that arise during the development process.
  • Conceptualisation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and develop vehicle design concepts that meet performance, safety, and aesthetic requirements.


This role is full time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements. 

 

Essential experience of the Automotive Design Engineer

  • Knowledge of industry-specific standards and regulations (e.g., automotive safety standards and regulations).
  • Demonstrate uncompromising safety, integrity & commitment at all times.
  • Strong understanding of whole vehicle engineering principles, materials, and associated manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge and technical understanding of appropriate standards, processes, components and design techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.


Qualifications for the Automotive Design Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in automotive engineering, or a related field.


Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) and NPPV security clearance for this role.
