In this role, you will:

 

  • Be responsible for the Occupational Health and Safety of those temporarily assigned to be under your supervision
  • Supervise the Safe Release of Work for Victoria Class Submarine systems and equipment during the production phase of Submarine Extended Docking and Operational Work Periods
  • Coordinate activities of System Controllers and Work Package Specialists to ensure all work requests are analysed for Lock-Out Requirements, application of the isolation, update of records followed by the release of work to production to meet the Project Schedule
  • Monitor the use of Safety Procedures to ensure the regulatory requirements for WorkSafe BC are satisfied for group Lockout and other safety requirements
  • Record the state of lockout on submarine systems using Babcock IT applications, updating them as work is progressed and completed
  • Be responsive to Commissioning Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard waterfront environment
  • Identify risks and opportunities during the course of testing and maintenance
    As our ideal candidate you have:
  • Strong technical skills including post-secondary education or apprenticeship in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Eligible for recognition as AScT or CTech designation, as applicable, in British Columbia
  • Strong communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal in order to maintain close liaisons with Customer, Project Management and Production staff
  • Strong Knowledge of the regulatory requirements for Individual and Group Lockout, and general knowledge of worker safety regulations included in WorkSafe BC.
  •  Strong computer skills including the MS Office suite

 

Assets for this position include:

 

  • Familiarity with inspections, certification and testing in a marine environment
  • Marine, offshore oil and gas drilling or naval vessel experience
  • Experience with Commissioning of Newly constructed vessels or retro-commissioning in the marine environment
  • Submarine operational experience
