In this role, you will:


Analyze, assess and clarify Marine/Combat Systems work specifications (to include but not limited to Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic, Welding, and Sonar) to ensure a full and detailed understanding of customer requirements (including resource and material identification) for eventual production execution to include:

  • Read and interpret technical/system drawings to understand basic system functionality in order to identify and process work.
  • Understand and interpret technical publications.
  • Prioritise and sequence work to meet schedule and production needs.
  • Liaise with various engineering disciplines
  • Provide technical support for contract bid preparation during the planning phase including:
    • Work breakdown
    • Specification clarification
    • Identification of subcontract requirements
    • Attending meetings as required
  • Create manageable tasks and management activities utilizing custom software
  • Investigate and compile a listing of surveys required by the work specification and determine whether or not the recommendations are covered by costed options
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the client and the client’s agents
  • Resolve conflicting project requirements by having a full understanding of client requirements
  • Comply with all working practices, standards of discipline, safety, and quality
  • When necessary, act as the delegate for the Planning Supervisor and ensure that the direction of the department is followed in relation to strategic direction of the company
  • Complete other duties as assigned


As our ideal candidate,


  • You have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in one of the following areas: mechanical, electrical, or welding
  • You have 4+ years relevant experience, including experience in a project management environment
  • You have experience in a production shipyard or a background in Navy maintenance for Submarine/Surface Marine/Combat systems (an asset)
  • You have experience using IT systems to control work packages
  • You are proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and other project software
  • You have the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • You have experience with Royal Canadian Navy (or similar experience) operating systems (would be considered an asset)
  • You hold a Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent certification (an asset)
  • You are eligible for Canadian Secret Security Clearance, ITAR and Controlled Goods
