In this role, you will:


  • Work closely with and provide support to the Program Manager – VISSC as required.
  • Be responsible to the Program Manager – VISSC for the delivery of sustainment support to the VICTORIA Class Submarine (VCS) per the requirements of VISSC. This support is specifically for the VCS platform system; for class wide configuration management; and for VISSC elements associated with System Integration and Engineering Services.
  • Work closely with and provide support to the Program Manager – Combat Systems and Maintenance, who has a similar role but covering the VCS Combat Systems and Maintenance.
  • Perform Program Management activities in your area of responsibility such as (but not limited to):
    • Provide expert advice to DND and the RCN on the sustainment of the VCS platform system.
    • Work with the Department of National Defence (DND) and the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) to identify appropriate platform system sustainment activities for the VCS.
    • Program management, monitoring and guiding platform system sustainment activities to ensure the best VCS program outcomes.
    • Program planning, including the development of annual platform program management plans, annual operating plans, and long term plans aimed at optimizing VCS platform system supportability and availability.
    • Guide Babcock’s Configuration Management Function in the provision of configuration management activities that:
      • Meet the requirements of the VISSC PWS and CDRLs;
      • Meet the need of DND and the RCN; and
      • Manage the appropriate elements within the VISSC Core WBS and budget.
  • Provide direction and guidance to Project Managers and Project Technical Leads to enable successful delivery of VISSC projects.
  • Lead Platform System and Configuration input into CDRLs required under VISSC.
  • Support the VISSC Program Planner’s maintenance of a consolidated emergent work (EW) schedule that draws together all individual EW task schedules and monitors their progress against Class Plan milestones, identifying the critical path against each key milestone.
  • Co-Chair the VCS Platform System Hazard Management Group (HMG).
  • Manage the development and upkeep of processes and work instructions essential to the conduct of your responsibilities.
  • Provide support to Business Development as required.


As our ideal candidate,


  • You will have knowledge of the Royal Canadian Navy and its In-Service Support processes, and 10 + years’ experience with the sustainment or operation of naval platform systems. (Preferably submarines).
  • You have a broad engineering/technical background with a diploma or degree in a related engineering field.
  • You have 5+ years’ experience in the maintenance of complex assets. 
  • You have 5+ years’ project management experience in a complex project environment, preferably within the Defence industry.
  • You are a certified Project Management Professional (PMP)®
  • You possess strong critical thinking and complex problem solving skills.
  • You are a positive, resilient and focused individual; self-motivated and results-oriented.
  • You have strong interpersonal skills that will support a variety of activities including internal team-building and external customer engagement.
  • You have excellent verbal and written (technical) communications skills, including presentation in front of groups and the ability to communicate complex information to people at all organizational levels.
  • Are eligible for a Canadian NATO Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
  • You are bilingual (An asset).
