In this role, you will:

 

  • Supervise verification, acceptance and maintenance activities for various Victoria Class Submarine systems and equipment
  • Coordinate activities of Test Directors and direct multi-disciplinary employees during the testing of submarine systems and equipment
  • Develop and review verification specifications to align with industry standards for complex test and acceptance activities for electrical systems
  • Conduct equipment trouble-shooting, fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance
  • Record defects using Babcock Canada IT applications
  • Coordinate and execute safe release of work processes
  • Be responsive to Commissioning Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard waterfront environment
  • Identify risks and opportunities during the course of testing and maintenance

 

The ideal candidate brings:

 

  • Strong technical skills including post-secondary education or apprenticeship in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience
  • Eligible for recognition as AScT, CTech or EIT designation, as applicable, in British Columbia
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Strong communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal in order to maintain close liaisons with Customer, Project Management and Production staff
  • Experience in the following are desirable and considered assets:
    • Field functional testing of control components
    • A proven knowledge of Direct Current control systems / motor control / generator testing
    • Alternating Current systems and power distribution control systems
    • Control and monitoring system testing experience
    • Knowledge of lead acid or lithium ion battery systems
    • Experience with fibre optic applications, cable characteristics, connectors, termination, inspection and testing
    • Knowledge of uninterrupted power supplies and switching
    • Marine, offshore oil and gas drilling or naval vessel experience
    • New construction commissioning or retro-commissioning
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office suite desirable
  • Submarine operational experience, an asset
  • Proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning that you must have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Government of Canada with the final dose at least 14 days prior to your start date
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
