In this role, you will:


  • Be responsible for the creation of technical drawings and specifications to support the implementation of Engineering Changes (ECs) on board Victoria Class Submarines.
  • Design and develop solutions with a Mechanical focus for the integration of new sub-systems / components into existing systems.
  • Undertake 2D and 3D modelling to support spatial integration of ECs.
  • Create detailed manufacturing, pipe spool, assembly, and installation drawings under the supervision of a senior designer.
  • Define mechanical aspects of ECs for Victoria Class Submarines by creating/modifying mechanical systems such as chilled water, hydraulics, domestic fresh water, high-pressure air, HVAC, etc.
  • Develop knowledge of non-destructive testing and welding / brazing techniques as they apply to mechanical systems.
  • Participate in the development of innovative solutions to technical problems.
  • Conduct onsite inspections/surveys of platform’s physical conditions and verify designs.
  • Work closely with other Drawing Office disciplines to ensure coherency between deliverables.
  • Update as-fitted technical drawings to reflect the final installed configuration.
  • Liaise with subcontractors to ensure design for manufacture / installation.
  • Maintain and prepare project documents as applicable.
  • Conduct other duties as necessary.


As our ideal candidate, you:


  • Hold a College Technologist Diploma in a relevant field.
  • Possess the ability and aptitude to problem solve technical issues.
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Have experience with 2D and 3D CAD software (knowledge in AutoCAD and SolidWorks an asset).
  • Familiar with ASME Y14 drawing standards (knowledge in CFTO drawing standards an asset).
  • Familiar with drawing control workflow (knowledge of SolidWorks PDM an asset).
  • Installation / integration design experience an asset.
  • Proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning that you must have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Government of Canada with the final dose at least 14 days prior to your start date.
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
