The role
As a Vehicle Mechanic, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will carry out routine and bespoke inspection, servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis mechanical and electrical repair to a wide range of advanced military wheeled vehicles to level 1-3 maintenance standards.

 

Our teams are currently based in Kenya and Oman but this may extended to cover other countries where you will be required to deploy on a 3 month on 1 month off basis. All travel, accommodation and tooling is provided by Babcock along with daily subsistence rate. 
 
Day to day, you’ll utilise repair manuals, spares lists and modern diagnostic schematics through modern media assets as required.

 

  • Deliver the production plan
  • Ensure use of correct tools, plant or machinery available to deliver the plan
  • Ensure health and safety standards are followed including use of  personal protective equiptment (PPE), safe working areas, near miss and accident reporting and adherence to risk assessments
  • Ensure management chain is notified of risks of meeting output plan as soon as is apparent

 
This is a full time, hybrid role based in Kenya and Oman.
 
Essential experience of the Vehicle Mechanic:

  • Experienced IT skills competent at utilising laptops and diagnostic computers with a good understanding of MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to challenge and have awkward conversations
  • Ability to make rational decisions based on information available

 
Qualifications for the Vehicle Mechanic:

  • A recognised qualification in Automotive Engineering with a minimum City and Guilds level-3 or BTEC/IMI/NVQ equivalent or has served in HM Armed Forces as a Vehicle Mechanic Class One.
  • B1 Driving Licence  
     

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
