No prior training experience is required, just good communication skills and an understanding of mathematical principles and a willingness to be developed into the role.
The role
As a Maths Tutor you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME) apprenticeship programme provides aspiring engineers with an opportunity to develop their skills and contribute to the British Army’s vital operations across the world.
Day to day you’ll instruct future personnel to achieve their Level 3 Engineering Maths qualification as required for an Apprenticeship.
- Conduct classroom-based training, monitor apprentice progress, and administer assessments and tests to measure their learning outcomes.
- Stay updated on Functional Skills programme changes, develop instructional materials, and ensure adherence to Babcock Training and MOD instructional specifications and assessment procedures to achieve the standards required by the Awarding Organisations
- Create and maintain effective work plans, prioritise tasks, and manage resources efficiently to optimise training delivery.
- Track apprentice progress, provide timely feedback, and guide students towards achieving Level 3 Mathematics qualifications.
- Ensure all documentation used is accurate, completed on time and fulfils all contractual and statutory obligations. Ensure documentation is kept in a safe and secure area and is available for inspection or audit (internal or external)
- Keep all relevant parties informed about programme updates, student performance, and any potential issues.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week, and based on site at either Tidworth Camp or MOD Lyneham with occasional hybrid working opportunities.
Essential experience of the Maths Tutor
- Effective communication skills
- Proficient in the use of IT (hardware/software) within the workplace
Qualifications for the Maths Tutor
- Level 3 Mathematics

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service Security Check (EDBSSC) security clearance for this role.
