As a Strategic Sourcing Officer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be responsible for developing strategic sourcing approaches that drive effective contract delivery and foster strong supplier relationships, ensuring timely and reliable material support for both Authority and Babcock Workshop customers.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Support the development and implementation of sourcing strategies to deliver financial, operational, and contractual benefits
- Provide data analytics on demand, spend, suppliers, markets, and business performance to inform sourcing decisions
- Contribute to procurement activities across Consumables, Repairs, and Workshops
- Deliver high-quality data and strategic input aligned with key sourcing documents, including the Contract Let Plan, Price Expiry Report, and Limit of Liability Report
- Enable informed decision-making through accurate analysis and alignment with Strategic Sourcing objectives.
This role is full time working 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days on site at DSG Donnington, Shropshire and the remaining days working from home.
Essential experience of the Strategic Sourcing Officer:
- Strong capability in data modelling, analysis, reporting, and supplier strategy development
- Skilled in detailed quotation analysis and cost challenge negotiations
- Proven leadership experience in managing high-performing teams
- Background in highly regulated environments
- Familiarity with public procurement regulations (desirable.)
Qualifications for the Strategic Sourcing Officer:
- Degree-qualified or possesses equivalent relevant experience (desirable)
- Holds or working towards MCIPS Level 4 or equivalent professional accreditation (desirable.)

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
