The role
As a Senior Buyer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This is an exciting opportunity where you’ll be responsible for identifying, developing and implementing sourcing strategies for vehicle related and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) spares and sub-contract management in support of military platforms to ensure the delivery of optimised financial, operational and contractual benefits.
Day-to-day, you’ll manage the development and implementation of sourcing strategies that ensure material availability through the enablement of effective sourcing strategies in line with operational requirements. You’ll also:
- Developing Key Supplier Relationships and providing an escalation point of contact
- Lead the development of appropriate procurement strategies utilising category management, sourcing projects, or other routes as appropriate
- Responsible for the delivery of individual procurement cost down strategies that positively contribute to the Babcock Value Plan
- Lead supplier engagement on market warming, solution development, negotiation and dispute resolution
- Lead presentation of sourcing project progress at each gate stage in weekly governance reviews with senior stakeholders
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with days in the office/onsite and days working from home.
Essential experience of the Senior Buyer:
- Demonstrable ability to undertake complex tasks such as data modelling and analysis, executive report writing and strategy creation for suppliers
- Ability to understand technical drawings and articulate technical questions to stakeholders is desirable
- Experience of detailed quotation analysis and challenging pricing with suppliers
- Proven delivery of category management and sourcing strategies
Qualifications for the Senior Buyer:
We value difference and don’t have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and/or willingness to learn then we would like to hear from you. However, MCIPS 5 or equivalent is desirable.
