The Role
As an Installation Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. The Skynet Programme is exploiting technological advances to deliver the next generation of military communication satellites to Ministry of Defence, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the infrastructure for this to operate. 

Day-to-day, you’ll work on the Skynet contract as an active member of the Maintenance and Support team, you will be reporting into the SGS Infrastructure department.

• Proactively working to ensure that all installations are compliant in supporting the overall capability.
• Whilst being a major contributor with upgrades, new works including the installation of cabling, racks, equipment, networks, and systems.
• Liaising with key stakeholders, whilst ensuring all associated documentation is updated and accurate.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires regular travel to Colerne, Hawthorn and Oakhanger.

Essential Experience of the Installation Technician

• Fully competent in understanding basic network design.
• Proven experience in the installation and termination of fibre, Cat5E, Cat6, Radio Frequency, Data, and mains cabling.
• Proficient in working with Microsoft Office software.
• Good organisational skills, ability to prioritise.
• Strong understanding of Health and safety practices in technical environments.

Qualifications for the Installation Technician

• Engineer qualified to NVQ-3 (ONC/OND) level.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Appropriate ICT knowledge/qualifications.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
