The role
As the Head of Future Solutions – Space, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will be leading the Solutions Team for the Space Business Unit to deliver innovative SATCOM technology solutions in response to emerging customer needs. Reporting to the Director of Skynet Future Solutions and Transformation, you’ll be part of a multi-million pound programme of technology change.
Day-to-day, you’ll lead the Solutions Team to develop concept designs, innovative solutions and technical proposals, in response to new customer requirements and emerging technologies.
- Supporting business development and bidding activity by providing technical solutions and the supporting data in a fast-paced, agile manner,
- Working closely with stakeholders in the customer community to understand current and future needs,
- Co-ordination of horizon scanning activities and understanding technological developments in SATCOM and adjacent domains.
This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Head of Future Solutions
Significant relevant experience within either a military or commercial SatComms organisation and subject matter expertise.
- The ability to develop talent and mentor staff to meet our future requirements.
- Problem solving capability and the ability to simplify, prioritise, and resolve issues, using data as well as good judgement.
- Able to communicate complex concepts and technologies, clearly and digestibly, to non-specialists, from the most junior colleague to the most senior Customer.
- Ability to motivate teams to deliver great output on time and on cost, whilst creating a high performing team culture.
- Ability to apply systems engineering principles in a manner that is tailored to the work in hand, driving for optimal compliance with requirements.
