The role
As a Qualified Flying Instructor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. As a Qualified Flying Grading Instructor, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Supporting candidates at Middle Wallop or RNAS Yeovilton aspiring to become the next Apache/Wildcat/Merlin or F35 pilots through flying grading on the Babcock Grob 115E Tutor Aircraft.
Day-to-day, you’ll support dedicated students on a flying syllabus that caters to elements such as navigation, instrument flying and aerobatics.
- Carry out one to one Flying training.
- Complete end of course reports.
- Actively encourage and maintain a culture of military ethos throughout 6 FTS and the Royal Navy embracing the Student Care Directives.
- Maintain the highest level of safety and quality.
- Ensure that all communication, documentation, and typed material is of the required standard.
- Complete Staff Continuation Training requirements.
This role is full time, 40 hours per week, working Monday-Friday 0800-1700. and is based on site at Middle Wallop or RNAS Yeovilton.
Essential experience of the Qualified Flying Instructor
- Previous military flying experience (QFI would be an advantage)
- Aerobatics experience
- DTTT V2 (Defence train the trainer)
- Good IT skills
- Completed the Military Flying Supervisors Course/Flight Authorisers Course.
- Experience in formation flying.
Qualifications for the Qualified Flying Instructor
- Either: Hold or have held a CPL with IR (FI preferred)
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC security clearance for this role.
