Systems Engineer

We are looking for a dynamic, ambitious and technically competent System Design Engineer to join our high performing team.

Mission Systems is transforming and we need you to support drive for growth, and to support and lead our teams through exciting, but sometimes challenging situations. You’ll play a key role in growing our contracts and building strong customer relationships, implementing our ambitious strategy. You will become responsible for system and equipment design activities in the Communications Group with an expectation of being able to focus on RF communication requirements and their translation into actual requirement and system implementation. Reporting to the Project Manager the System Design Engineer will exercise system design control over sight upon specialised OEMs providing equipment into the Babcock project service provision.

Experience 

 

  • Experienced in analogue, digital, RF fault diagnosis and repair to component level;
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of the Microsoft suite of tools including SharePoint, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, MS Project and Excel;
  • Competent at performing root cause analysis and system performance improvement studies;
  • Knowledge of relevant standards (DEF STAN / STANAG / BS EN / BR) for systems and equipment;
  • Knowledge of electrical/electronic components and circuits for analogue, digital and RF assemblies;
  • Work as part of a Multi-disciplined team;
  • Knowledge of Integration test and repair of RF Telecommunications systems.

  • A self-motivator with good communication and organisational skills able to work independently against defined goals;
  • Can maintain context and insight whilst working under pressure, demonstrating good verbal and written communication skills throughout;
  • Strong Team Player;
  • Candidates must be driven to complete tasks to the benefit of the project for time, cost and quality;
  • Candidates must have a strong delivery and H&S ethic;
  • A flexible approach and able to adapt quickly to work flow change in order to meet customer demands and project delivery targets;
  • Able to fault find and recommend system improvement requirements;
  • Good attention to detail, meticulous and systematic;
  • Ability to assess risk;
  • Strong organisational skills;
  • Able to form good working relationships with both other employees and clients.

 
Physical Requirements

 

  • Be able to identify colours, particularly when working with electrical wiring.
  • Be able to complete a day's site work including some physical exertion.
  • Willing to work variable hours at various locations (as required).

 

Education and qualifications

  • Degree/HND in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering or System Engineering with Practical Experience.
  • Professional accreditation with an industry related body would be advantageous.
