The role
As a Trainee Technician - Survival Equipment, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be part of a specialist team maintaining and repairing critical survival equipment for aircrew operating in demanding environments. This is a hands-on, highly skilled role where you’ll be trained to work on everything from protective flying helmets and night vision devices to life preservers and fire-retardant clothing.

Day-to-day you will be:
- Maintaining, modifying and repairing survival and aircrew equipment to Military Aviation Authority standards
- Working with equipment such as helmets, harnesses, night vision goggles and life jackets
- Diagnosing faults and ensuring equipment is safe and operational
- Collaborating with a close-knit team
- Learning and applying engineering principles in a practical, real-world setting

This role is full time, 40 hours per week (08:00am – 17:00pm) and is based on site at RAF Shawbury.

Qualifications for the Trainee Technician - Survival Equipment
- Minimum GCSE Grade C/4 in English Language and Mathematics.
- Eyesight correctable to 6/6 standard.
- A methodical mindset and passion for practical work.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate is eligible to start on Standard (BPSS) security check.
