In conjunction with the Bristol Hub HR team, the Regional HR and recruitment Advisor provides professional and confident HR advice, support and administration service across the full range of HR activity; including HR query, employee relations issues, recruitment, terms and conditions and policies and procedures.

 

This role will also work closely with local trade union reps to build constructive relationships that support and deliver the HR agenda and drives cultural change through guidance and advice to Line Managers to ensure they own their People issues. Key Responsibilities

 

HR & Recruitment Accountabilities:

  • Provides coaching and builds relationships with line managers to support them with HR queries and issues;
  • Supports line managers with various employee relation issues including appraisals, capability, investigations, grievance, disciplinary, flexible working, appeals etc.
  • Provides confidence in feedback, weighing up risks and opportunities; influencing decisions, and challenging behaviours;
  • Drive high performance at Site through support advice and guidance to Line Managers;
  • Monitors, reviews and updates all HR policies and ensuring these are in line with current legislation;
  • Monitors the completion and quality of performance reviews across the sites and identifies training needs;
  • Maintains current and accurate information within AscentHR, produces management data as required and ensures date protection.
  • Represents HR on the panel for competency based interviews for site roles;
  • Trains hiring managers on candidate interview techniques;
  • Manages the recruitment processes including advertising jobs, arranging and holding  interviews, providing feedback, administering psychometric assessments and overseeing the offer stage documentation;
  • Acting as the point of contact for line managers, hiring managers and employees.
  • General HR administration tasks as required
  • Regularly contributes across the whole HR team, highlighting site training needs, recommending improvements to procedure and in supporting the HRD’s people agenda and HR strategy;
  • Covers for team absences as required; and
  • Undertake HR associated project work as required.

 

Learning & Development Accountabilities:

  • Supports the HR BP in the delivery of Core HR Modules (i.e. line manager workshops);
  • Runs HR inductions for new starters; and
  • Works with internal and external sources in order to design and deliver training in-house.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential:

  • CIPD level 5 or above, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience of coaching Line Managers in employee relations;
  • Previous experience of high volume recruitment;
  • Proven experience of providing generalist HR advice at all levels of an organisation
  • Proven experience of working with Trade Unions;
  • Proven experience of delivering training programmes;
  • Highly organised and professional;
  • Strong eye for detail;
  • Strong team player;
  • Strong oral and written communicator; and
  • Ability to build internal and external relationships.


Desirable:

  • Experience of  advising employees on employee relations issues
  • Level A and B qualified – in order to utilise a variety of psychometric tools and bring in best practice; and
  • Experience of working in a Communications/PR department ideally within the defence sector.
