The Role
As a Supply Chain Engineer, you will have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We play a vital role in the security of the nation, supporting the equipment used by the British Army. This includes the fleet management of over 50,000 vehicles, ranging from quad bikes and generators to main battle tanks, and weapons from pistols to cannons.
Day to day, you will be working on an exciting new project with international exposure:
- Supporting the design and development of the various repair phases of project Blueprint
- Engaging with internal stakeholder to exploit any repairs that could be undertaken within Babcock
- Minimising the use of MOD based repair enterprise to fulfil project Blueprint demand
- In conjunction with Engineering teams defining and establishing a forward repair screening capability
- Identifying expedient repair options to maintain equipment availability, including developing in-country and near-country repair agents
- Working with the Procurement Lead and sourcing team to enable route to repairs
- Creating a plan to cover all repairable NSNs in scope, considering all options including Direct Repair Scheme/Repair/New Buy etc.
- Defining repair specification to support Line Repairable Unit repairs, engaging with engineering and Original Equipment Manufacturers to develop alternatives that can be delivered in a more expedient manner, whilst still maintaining the operational capability
Essential experience of the Supply Chain Engineer:
- Significant Supply Chain experience
- Engineering background
- Experience of the MOD Supply Chain, Repair Management.
- General Business management skills with a proven track record of innovation and change, delivering measured benefit.
- Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe
- Full driving licence
This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week. We also offer a hybrid working arrangement.
Qualifications for the Supply Chain Engineer:
- Preferably educated to degree level with a Supply Chain or Engineering degree or similar qualification, or equivalent level of relevant experience
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
