The Role
As a Commercial Specialist, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Being responsible for the day-to-day commercial support of the Service Provision and Transformation Contract (SPTC) contract; whilst reporting directly to the Senior Commercial Manager and working closely with the SPTC Contract Director and SPTC Operations Team.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be the commercial interface with the customer and outside agencies / organisations in respect of this contract. You will also provide commercial support to the wider Land business, including new business winning activities (bids) and supply chain contracting:

 

  • Be the point of contact with customers on the day-to-day management of the SPTC contract.
  • Support in negotiations on disputes and contractual issues for contract or portfolio of contracts within area of responsibility.
  • Assist in the preparation and development of commercial responses and pricing strategies for bids and change proposals.
  • Prepare and develop commercial risk assessments for contracts and bids / proposals by judging acceptability of overall risk level of deal and mitigating options.
  • Manage commercial aspects of the contracts and contract change.

 

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and requires regular travel across a range of internal and customer sites on a regular basis alongside home working arrangements.

 

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential Experience of the Commercial Specialist

  • Experience of commercial management of high value and / or complex contracts.
  • Good legal and commercial awareness.
  • Experience with Risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Ability to translate impact of negotiated terms on P&L, risk to delivery etc.
  • Ideally, possess experience of MoD processes and dealing with Government customers but, this is not essential.
  • Good knowledge of contracts including experience of drafting and interpreting contract clauses.

 

Qualifications for the Commercial Specialist

  • Preferably, you will hold or be working towards a relevant professional qualification (International Association for Contract and Commercial Management (IACCM) or Post Graduate Certificate in Commercial Management (PGCCM)) or equivalent / similar however, this is not essential provided you have relevant experience.

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
