As a Buyer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will oversee and manage procurement activities to ensure timely sourcing of consumables and repairables in line with operational needs and the Approved Vendor List (AVL).
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
- Execute purchasing activities in line with project and customer requirements
- Ensure procurement processes comply with internal policies and regulatory standards
- Align procurement efforts with strategic sourcing and contracting strategies to maximise value
- Support supplier review meetings to assess performance and explore development opportunities
- Drive cost savings and enhance value contribution for both the customer and Babcock.
This role is full time working 37 hours per week and involves hybrid working with 2 days on site at Andover and 3 days working from home. The role is a fixed term contract for 52 weeks.
Essential experience of Buyer:
- Skilled in detailed quotation analysis, with the ability to develop and challenge supplier pricing to ensure value
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, both internally and externally
- Extensive background in commercial procurement, demonstrating sound judgement and strategic sourcing expertise
- Proficient in SAP or equivalent enterprise resource planning systems for procurement and supply chain operations.
Qualifications for the Buyer:
MCIPS qualification or active progression towards certification is considered advantageous and highly desirable.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
