As an Aircraft Inspector, you'll play a key role in supporting aircraft engineering, flight-line operations, scheduled servicing and maintenance activities across the aircraft fleet. Working alongside Licensed Aircraft Engineers and technical teams, you'll help ensure aircraft are maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality and airworthiness.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic aviation environment, supporting critical flying operations while developing your expertise across aircraft maintenance, inspection and ground operations.
Day-to-day, you will be:
- Carrying out scheduled and corrective maintenance activities across the aircraft fleet.
- Supporting aircraft handling, flight-line operations and daily aircraft preparation activities.
- Completing aircraft and equipment maintenance documentation in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Conducting pre-use checks and scheduled maintenance of ground support equipment.
- Providing technical support across other sites and participating in operational detachments when required.
This is a full-time, permanent role based onsite at MoD Boscombe Down. Working hours are 40 hours per week across a 4-day, 10-hour shift pattern.
Essential experience of the Aircraft Inspector:
- Experience preparing aircraft for flight operations, including aircraft marshalling, fuel and oil replenishment activities.
- Experience working within a military or civilian Part 145 maintenance environment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and customer-facing skills.
- Leadership, mentoring or supervisory experience.
- Good IT literacy and experience maintaining technical records.
Qualifications for the Aircraft Inspector:
- Recognised Aircraft Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in an aerospace discipline.
- Demonstrable practical and theoretical aircraft engineering knowledge.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Military or civilian aircraft engineering experience.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) / Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) security clearance for this role.
