The role
As a Workshop Technician, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We’re looking for a technician with some experience in metalwork/machine fabrication. An Ideal opportunity to be part of a team that offers a great place to work within a stable company with a role that can be varied and interesting. 


This role consists of a 30 hour working week, Monday to Thursday with Fridays off. 


The ideal candidate will have working experience of lathes, milling machines, drills/various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and gas welding). This role involves not only the technical aspects of metalworking but also requires effective communication and collaboration with customers throughout the projects.


Day to day, you’ll:
•    Make/Fix/Manufacture anything that is needed on the base
•    Work closely with the SWS Workshop Supervisor ensuring the highest engineering principles and procedures are always followed
•    Always adhere to the RAF Stations’ and Health and Safety policy and directives
•    Provide tuition as required to the Section Apprentice ensuring and a can-do attitude to training and development are always prevalent
•    Any other tasks required to ensure a smooth operation in the SWS Section at Northolt


This role is full time and will be based at RAF Northolt and will be based on site. This role consists of a 30 hour working week, Monday to Thursday with Fridays off. 

Experience of the Workshop Technician:
•    Experience as a Workshop Technician or similar role in operating lathes/milling machines
•    Experience operating lathes, milling machines, drills/various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and gas welding
•    Ability to work on own initiative independently and as part of a team


Qualifications for the Workshop Technician:
•    Full UK Manual driving licence
•    Normal colour perception graded as CP2 (can be checked at your local opticians)


The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
