About the Role

Here at Babcock International Group in Rosyth, we are currently looking for a Quality Controller to join us. We aim to deliver engineering-led and world-leading products and services across our Engineering, Specialised Manufacturing, Gas Handling Systems and Naval Marine business streams.

You will ensure that precision machined components conform to the required codes, standards and specifications.

Your main duties will include confirming parts are identified and traceable to certification. Visual inspection of parts to verify conformance Dimensional Inspection of precision machined parts against approved drawings and specifications using the following as required :Co-ordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Faro Arm, Manual Measuring Equipment (gauges, micrometres etc.)

Coordinating calibration of inspection equipment. Maintaining accurate and traceable records of all inspections. Raising Non-Conformance Reports as required. Determine method of inspection and set up requirements on first article parts. Supporting the machining operators for in-process measurements. Supporting sample inspection of sub-contracted parts. Supporting other inspections as required (NDT, Paint etc.) Supporting the implementation of necessary corrective and preventive actions to remedy any non-compliance found and to avoid recurrence. Supporting the delivery of a continual improvement process across the business.

What do I need to do the role?

You will need knowledge and understanding of Geometric Dimensions and Tolerancing (GDT) standards. Fundamental mechanical and mathematical inspection knowledge Familiar with the use of all inspection and gauging including but not limited to; micrometres, thread gauges, dial indicators, Vernier callipers, height gauges, internal and external thread gauges, ID/OD mics, bore gauges etc. You should be proficient in reading and understanding technical standards and drawings. IT ability in the practical use of Microsoft Office; Modus and Cam2 Measure

We would also like you to have the following:

  • Proven experience in machine shop or mechanical working environment
  • Hold an SVQ / ONC in relevant subject
  • Experience of inspection and measurement of precision parts preferable
  • Formal training in the use of CMM or Faro Arms preferable (though not essential as training will be provided)

What else do I need to know?

You should hold or have the ability to obtain full SC clearance
