You may have heard, Babcock have been awarded the £1.5bn design and build contract for five Type 31 Frigates. Therefore, we are seeking individuals who would like to join us at Rosyth Dockyard to support the Type 31 Quality & Governance objectives and support Quality Improvement initiatives.


As the Quality Control Lead, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of the Quality Control Inspection and Acceptance programme for the T31 Build. You will act as the focal point within the designated deliver team all Quality Control activities ensuring that all aspects are addressed in a timely manner commensurate with the priorities of the project. You will manage the Quality Control Team to achieve delivery of the Inspection and Acceptance programme and report against the team’s work programmes to ensure the team delivers its accountabilities. In addition, you will provide Quality input and/or approval where required to support Formal Queries, Production Queries, CDRL reviews, Enterprise Change Requests etc.


Additional Responsibilities:


  • Develop strong links into the Production, Engineering and Acceptance teams to ensure that best practice approaches are utilised and that the development needs of the team are satisfied.
  • Coach, develop and motivate the team to maximise their potential and contribution to the project and the business.
  • Carry out Quality analyses and investigations and prepare reports with recommendations to support the resolution of problems and the improvement of Quality capability.
  • Ensure consistency in the processes and quality of outputs of the production teams and sub-contractors, ultimately to ensure that the contracted standards are met and acceptance of the design by the customer is achieved.

What do I need to do the role?
Ideally, you will hold a HNC or above in Engineering and will have knowledge of ship build or refits. You will have experience of quality control and assurance processes, as well as having experience leading a team in a defence environment.


What else do I need to know?
You will work 37 hours per week Monday to Friday with flexible working and you must be able to achieve the appropriate level of Security Clearance.
